Roadtrips and Round-ups

The bellowing cow roused me from my state of early-morning drowsiness. I rolled over, noticed the clock, and said out loud, "Those cows sound awfully close." Deeming that is was an appropriate time to get out of bed, I looked out the window, and sure enough, the cows were meandering on the driveway, in front of the garage. I threw my clothes on as I pounded down the stairs, looking to see if I could join Dad and Boomer (Dad's cattle dog) in the round-up.

An unexpected but exciting start to the day. Without much fanfare, we managed to get the cows back in. After a pretty intense year of being on the go - school in California, leading DTS in Ozark, and the trip to Morocco, we are taking a few weeks to reconnect with family and friends. Our time at Grandma and Grandpa's (Josh's parents) farm is at an end, so tomorrow we leave Minnesota and drive to Michigan. We'll return to Arkansas before Memorial weekend, in time to lead a YWAM Ozarks rock climbing outing!

Marin loves her time on the farm...feeding the cats, dropping rocks in the dogs' water bucket, mooing at the cows, and watching "Pop" drive tractor. Even Ava gets in on the fun, as she coos with delight every time she sees one of the dogs.

Here's a conversation that took place with Marin earlier this week:
"Marin, did you go to the barn?"
"Yeah."
"What did you see out there?"
"Meow!"
"What else did you see?"
"Moo!"
"What else did you see?"
"Woof woof woof!"

How unusual would life be if we all referred to objects based on the noises they made?
