Bounce passes and fist fights

"Coach, watch me!" the little girl exclaims as she proceeds to throw the basketball into the air and attempt unsuccessfully to catch it on the return.
"Coach, he punched me!" says one boy, referring to another. "Right here, and right here." He points to his shoulder and thigh.

A poster child for ADD. A girl that can't stop whining. Children who constantly squabble to be first in line. A four year old that can hardly lift a basketball over her head. One that actually has a grasp on what she is doing.

This has been my experience this week helping at my church's VBS program, themed as a basketball camp. I am coaching the kindergarten to 3rd grade group. I realized that although I may not teach a whole lot of actual basketball skills to this group, I have a lot of fun and often catch myself inwardly laughing at their antics. Maybe this is one of the Lord's ways of preparing me for parenthood.
